I Fell in Love with these Characters

Fictional characters help us cope in many ways. For some, we often feel a kinship with them. They may act like us, love like we love, and believe in the same morals, principals and share the same core values that we, ourselves, value. So far, my interests in characters is actually quite wide and varied but when writing Fanfics, I tend to fall back on 3 males but for my sanity as I love her character immensely, I'll include the female character whom I love quite dearly.

Stargate Atlantis: Wraith Commander; Todd played by Christopher Heyerdahl.

Todd is that kind of character that you simply can't help but love. He's witty, sarcastic, has a weird sense of humor and you connect with his personality fairly quickly. Todd's personality is unusual for a natural pure-blooded Wraith. He is reasonable, surprisingly loyal, and to a degree quite honorable, usually keeping his bargains. He is far more willing to make compromises and deals with humans, and acts far less arrogantly in their presence, serving in many ways as the Wraith version of the Goa'uld System Lord Yu, as both were willing to work with Earth's forces to achieve mutual goals. He regards the Atlantis Expedition with neutrality, knowing that they are more useful as occasional allies than enemies. He also seems to care about the collective good of the Wraith.

Hellboy The Golden Army: Prince Nuada Silverlance; Played by Luke Goss.

The reason why I love Prince Nuada is simply because he loves his people, his tribe if you will, about as fiercely as I love and value mine. We keep our circle of friends small and when we're betrayed, we feel it quite deeply and our trust, once broken, is extremely hard to get/gain back. Nuada was reasonably intelligent and could be quite cunning and manipulative, which he used to his full advantage. He was vengeful, stubborn to a fault and genuinely believed his actions would lead to a better world, seeming to be of the opinion that 'the ends would justify the means'. Despite his flaws, Nuada did have good traits. He seemed very tolerant and accepting of other races (save for humans), clearly loved his sister and was also genuinely caring towards his followers, in particular Mr Wink. He attempted to sway Hellboy to his way of thinking, believing that the humans would never accept them and that he had more in common with Nuada than them. It is implied that he doesn't harm animals as he killed the guards outside the BPRD building but spared the guard dog. However, his narrow-sightedness when it came to humans - believing them all to be monsters incapable of reasoning and tolerance - obsession with vengeance and inability to let go of his rage and bitterness ultimately made him a villainous character and led to his downfall.

Underworld Rise of the Lycans: Princess Sonja played by Rhona Mitra.

Sonja is a character I instantly felt a sisterly bond with. Yes she's fictional and I understand and grasp this, but the fact remains; she loved the underdog. She tried her best to make sure those below her, knew she valued them even if it was harder for her to outright say as such. Sonja shares some personality traits with Selene, in that they are both cunning and dedicated warriors, who show little remorse for their enemies and are willing to risk their own lives for the good of their coven, or those they love. However, Sonja is not so slavishly devoted to her life as a warrior as Selene is. She is not as loyal to the coven and does not blindly follow their doctrine.

Sonja has a somewhat warmer personality, with Rhona Mitra describing her as being more "sassy" compared to Selene. She also appears to be more compassionate and mindful of other's feelings, such as when she asks Lucian if he truly feels nothing when he kills the Werewolves, and by her decision to spare Viktor and attempt to persuade him to accept her love for Lucian, which ultimately proved to be her downfall (Selene, on the other hand, didn't hesitate to kill Viktor, although it should be noted that Viktor was revealed to have killed Selene's family, while, up until that point, he had not done anything so terrible to Sonja herself aside from his harsh treatment of Lucian).

Underworld Lucian played by Michael Sheen.

Lucian set the bar high for how I wish to be loved. To be loved so fiercely, that should you be wrongfully killed, that your partner would go to the ends of the earth to seek vengeance, that's a love like no other and sadly, is lacking in today's world. Lucian is shown to be a charismatic and noble man, with good leadership skills. He cares deeply for his fellow Lycans and even, by extension, their bestial cousins, the Werewolves. He has become very skilled at reigning in his temper and keeping his emotions in check over the years. As a younger man, Lucian was less worldly and more submissive, obeying Viktor's orders without question and defending the Vampire clan. He states that he bore them no ill will over this, presumably believing this to be the 'natural order' of things, although he desired for Lycans to be better treated and wished for his loyalty to the Vampires to be acknowledged. Overtime, however, Lucian became increasingly disillusioned and sought to escape from his life of slavery. At the same time, though, he didn't want to abandon his Lycan brothers, feeling responsible for them. After Viktor betrays Lucian, he finally realizes that he will never win the Vampires' respect and becomes determined to free his people and reach their full potential as a species.

As a result of this, and due to his devastation over the death of his beloved Sonja and unborn child, Lucian becomes a colder and more ruthless person. He apparently sees no ill in killing Vampires or putting innocent mortals in the line of fire to achieve his goals. However, he is hardly apathetic or selfish - everything he is doing is to better the lives of his species and avenge his family. He treats Michael with courtesy and apologizes for the other Lycans' rough handling of him, and also tells Selene to bite Michael after he is mortally wounded, recognizing their growing love for one another and perhaps empathizing with them. He is also shown to be rather short-tempered, but is much less aggressive than his fellow Lycans, discouraging infighting and promoting civility and cooperation amongst them.
