You know, I'm a fairly laid back, easy going kind of person. I have a small group of friends whom I love and adore, and I have a few celebrities, I'd love to sit down and have coffee, tea, or whatever, with. Out of a rather large group of Celebs, I've engaged with a few, speak regularly to one, and secretly plot the torment of another (sorry not sorry Michael).
That said, it continually blows my mind when a newspaper or even a magazine, can get away with publishing absolutely rubbish. But that's exactly what the Daily Mail and it's reporter or, shall we say fictional author, Richard Eden, tends to do. But before we get into him and the debacle he's created, let me first say this; it doesn't take much to become a reporter or an author. Anyone really, can do it. It just takes some basic understanding of the language in which you're going to be reporting and or writing in, and vola. So many spend thousands, if not millions on going to university or college (or both), just to become a reporter or author.
But there's a few things school doesn't seem to teach you, or rather, it does but it so often falls on deaf ears; tell the truth and be respectful of another's privacy. But these seem to be the very teachings that Richard Eden, has failed, continuously, to understand, nevermind grasp.
Meet Richard Eden. For me, without doing any sort of deep diving on the world wide web, can guess him to be in his early to late 40s, and is, to be frank, from the very few videos I've watched, appears to be a self-centered twit who seems to think he's holier than thou.
But I digress.
So why am I upset? Well you see, Richard has, on a continued basis, lied about interviewing the beautiful, kind hearted, loving, and gentle natured Kate Beckinsale, of whom, I've had the immense pleasure of having a very brief interaction with. However, the article that has caught the world's attention and the attention of Beckinsale's fan base is the one seen below;
But, it would seem the Daily Mail is also at fault with not one, but multiple articles regarding Kate and even speculations into her personal life and relationships.
Now, I can't share all the posts because there's quite a few, so go have a gander here.
What blows my mind is, in this particular write up RICHARD EDEN: Kate Beckinsale opens up about the 'difficult' time she's going through with her mother's cancer, Kate has openly admitted, that she has never spoken to Richard Eden.
So as this was posted on July 25, 2024 and the article was published on July 24, 2024, it begs the question; how could Richard get any of the information in his article, if Kate was busy celebrating her 51st birthday?
If Kate is anything like me, then I can for 100% certainty say, she would of been much too busy to speak to a reporter, a self centered one at that, while also, at the same time, preparing to celebrate her birthday. Furthermore, while Kate has been very open about her stomach troubles, and her mother's cancer, why would she speak to any sort of mail company or tabloid company about something that's so very private?
I can not nor will I speak for Kate, but I do know when my dad's mom was dying, I was only 15 at the time. I had no idea what was going on and had kept getting told "she'll be home next month" but 'next month' would come and go and still, no mom (as my dad's mom legally adopted me, I called her mom and still do, to this day). Then, on February 11, 2004, she passed away, from terminal end stage cancer. She had cancers we hadn't even heard about up until she passed away. Many people think they can only get one or two types at any given time, but here was my dad's mom with bone cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, heart cancer, and brain cancer. Even if she'd gotten treatment, we would of only prolonged the inevitable and she would of been miserable.
But I do know how gut wrenching it is, to watch someone you love, battle with and through something as cruel as cancer. It hurts. It sucks your breath away. Every time you think you have a bit of breathing room, the illness sucks even that away and leaves you feeling drained and miserable.
So when I saw Kate's Instagram post, I was deeply upset at the Daily Mail for even allowing that article to be published. What happened to fact checking? What happened to making sure the truth is being told? Whatever happened to respecting the privacy of others? You know, we get fact checked almost every day on Instagram, Twitter, and even Facebook, why is the Daily Mail above doing this with their reporters?
And it would seem, they (the Daily Mail) has a history of abusive articles aimed at women. Let's talk about the Fab Thirties event dress she wore. The author calls the dress 'racy', without, I doubt, actually understanding the meaning of the word or how the context given, in that simple sentence, comes off as.
Now we all know Kate is a highly attractive woman, but let's stop there. She is a woman, with thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, values, etc. How she dresses shouldn't have any sort of implications attached to it. I am wholly uncertain how the front of the dress is supported. I don't personally know it's creator, nor do I care to know (I'm more of a jeans and yoga pants kind of girl). That said, I find the dress to be absolutely stunning on Kate. And, I'm fairly certain, if one were to look closely enough, you can see the very thin, nearly invisible mesh, in the front, where it dips, keeping everything together. Again. I could be wrong.
But the hate doesn't seem to stop there. Day to day, Kate has to sift through a literal torrent of bullshit and assery from self proclaimed fans, like these two, who genuinely don't get the concept that showing one's ass to the world, is the best thing you can do sometimes.
And she has always been open about suffering from tummy troubles.
What needs to be reminded is this; Kate isn't just another celeb. She's not just another actress. She's a human being, working a job. And that job isn't as glamorous as some may assume it to be. Being an actor or actress means waking up at 5am and often not going to bed till well after 11pm. It means pushing your body through physical and even mental exercises so that you're prepared for the next time you're on set.
Let us not forget that Kate has had some pretty amazing but tear jerking scenes in Van Helsing and in Underworld, in which she was crying in various scenes. Now was she crying in real life? Who knows. I don't. I'm not going to assume she was or wasn't, but the fact of the matter is; you have to be mentally prepared to do these scenes otherwise, if you don't, you won't be able to do them.
Let's not forget how physically demanding her roles have been. Underworld and Van Helsing especially pushed her body to it's limits and more than likely, she had her fair share of bruises from each time she was on set.
But just because she's an actress doesn't give Richard or anyone like him, or his boss's company, or any news outlet, the right, to invade her privacy and make such up wild stories about her or her personal life. Slanderous comments and invasion of privacy are very real crimes, and I do, genuinely hope, the Daily Mail realizes, that while it may seem petty to sue a news outlet for invading your privacy, because "you're an actor/actress/singer! You signed up for this/that!" the fact remains; lying about someone is still wrong and no one signs up for having their life sullied by outside sources, no matter the job or profession they take on.
So I hope, for Kate's sake, that the Dail Mail listens and if not, well, her fans are making certain the company gets absolutely ripped apart for this screw up.
All my love Wolf Pack!
Khaleesi.
